This creepy tunnel totally reminded me of The Invasion with Nicole Kidman. You know that scene where the person's running through the tunnel screaming "They're coming!", the alien hits them with a car, and then the police-alien is all "Don't worry, ma'am, he's fine," to Nicole Kidman? I just knew aliens were about to descend at any moment.
Next we drove the this place where you can get an awesome view of the Golden Gate Bridge. I was like "Whoa, this is definitely the closest I'll ever be to this place, so let's take a ton of pictures!"
But, no, turns out the next plan was for us to hike down to the ocean (way down there, the picture doesn't do it justice) so we could see the bridge better.
We stopped at this little bench area to rest about halfway down.
Note my incredibly comfortable, cheapy $15 shoes that I'd just bought for my new job in this picture. There'll be a story about them on day 3.
What you can't see here are the several hundred yards of really treacherous, wet, unstable rocks we had to traverse to arrive at this particular spot on the beach. I was too busy trying to stay upright to take any pics! :) But the view was definitely worth it.
We stayed on the beach for about an hour, and by the time we were ready to leave the tide had come in too far for us to come back the way we came very safely. So, we decided to scale the side of the mountain.
Next up, part #3 of Day 2, the Golden Gate Bridge.
